Lighting : Brand van Egmund

Design label Brand van Egmond is the pioneer in Dutch haute couture lighting design. Architect William Brand and sculptor Annet van Egmond founded Brand van Egmond in 1989 with the sole intention to create art without restraints. Each bringing something different to the brand, the duo has transformed their design studio into an international trendsetter for creating innovative, independent designs.

 ‘Night Watch’
It’s modern, trendy and slightly minimalist in comparision to the rest of the brand van egmund collections. The designer’s tag line for the item is ‘Past, present and future dissolve into one glowing celebration’.

‘Flower Power’

The collection (which includes the lounge cube, above) is an intricate tangle of  scrollwork, both dark and mysterious yet exquisite.  The collection also includes some wonderful pieces of lighting that perfectly show how spiky, blackened metalwork can be simply stunning. The entire collection is of hand crafted sculptures of iron and steel combined with blackcrystals that fascinate and are strangely appealing.

 ‘Beautiful Stranger’
‘This chair is your archetype beautiful stranger, there is more than meets the eye’.
The designers are particularly proud of the fact that when the chair sits at the table you can’t see the base from the back so it looks like a whole chair constructed from this weird, twisted string structure.

This other modern chandelier above is a signature piece for Brand van Egmond. It was first produced by the company back in 1988 and it has been popular with customers ever since then!
The main frame of the light is created from iron and the chandelier droplets are made from solid, rough, chunks of glass, so it would fit in well in an industrial style interior. Having said that it would look equally good in the hallway of the house or of course in the dining room.
Love them all!!!
